Condolence: Dear Sylvia and Gossett family, I am sorry to hear of dear Claude's passing. I have wonderful memories of his positive energy and leadership in NATS, as well as his passion for singing and teaching. He was such a tremendous mentor to his students, as well as younger voice teachers. I was certainly blessed by his influence and encouragement! Many blessings and peace to you all. Condolence From: William Powell, Prof & Dir. of Choral Activities, Auburn University
Condolence: To Sylvia and the Gossett family, I feel so honored to have had the opportunity to visit with Sylvia and Claude over the years since my arrival at Auburn University in 2001. You were both so warm and engaging with me, and it saddens me that our earthly encounters with Claude have come to an end. Both you and Claude are SO loved by former students and faculty at Auburn University. Undoubtedly, your time spent at AU was very rich and God-driven, as evidenced by the success you experienced with the AU Gospel Choir among other university and community endeavors. I am so thankful that you graced me with personal visits when you traveled to Auburn. I treasure, now more than ever, every opportunity that I spent in conversation with you and Claude. I know that you and your family are grieving, but I hope that the Holy Spirit has translated to you the prayers and love that continue to flow in your direction! You remain in my thoughts and prayers!

Condolence: I met Dr. Gossett when I was the accompanist for one of his voice students. Then I became one of his students as well. He taught me so much I can't begin to describe how he changed me. I got over my stage fright, developed a ferocious work ethic and became a better performer, not only singer but in all my instruments and theatre, because I was his student. He was a treasure and will be sorely missed. My sincere sympathy to the family on their loss.

Condolence From: Johnny Green
Condolence: Dear Mrs. Gossett, Diane and I wanted to express our deepest sympathy in light of Dr. Gossetts passing. We send our love to you and the family, knowing that our days wont be quite as bright, man owing that he has gone home to be with the Lord. This space is not adequate enough to tell all my he amazing, unselfish, and acts of kindness he directed in our way. He was a lifeboat to a group of drowning students who might have finished our education, let alone organize the gospe choir. I also had a chance to work with Dr. Gossett in the Lions Club, and it was an absolute delight. He was like a dad, a coach, and a friend. He will be missed. We pray for you and the family, Blessings

Condolence From: The Freeman/Beale Family--Ruth, Danna, Mike, Anna Caroline, John Michael
Condolence: Dear Sylvia, Trey, and Kaye...Dr. Claude Gossett was AMAZING! Mama and I were sharing memories of his special touches in the log house and how beautifully he sang (and Sylvia played) at Daddy's memorial service in the chapel at AUMC around Easter 1997. I see Dr. Gossett directing the AUMC choir...I can't see the choir without you both, in my memories. I remember when you "traded" houses with the Glydes, who will always be near and dear to me...probably never dreaming that my infernal "playing by ear" would lead to serving on WellSpring's praise team! Mama asked me to write for us all and let you know that our prayers are with you, and that the world is infinitely better off having been blessed with Claude Gossett (and all of you). Fingerprints of Heaven have touched us all through you. I love the words of Psalm 147:3..."He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds."...because even though you know he is HOME now...grief is real and adjusting to not seeing "with your eyes" one who is such a part of you is huge. Praise God for Heavenly reunions for all who believe and call upon the name of Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior! Thank you so much for being instruments of peace and praise to our family and, I am sure, countless others. May the Lord be near to you now and minister to you in the way that only He can. Much love to you all!

Condolence From: Vivian Reynolds
Condolence: Sylvia and Family, On this sunny Saturday morning, the first without Claude, our family sends loving hugs your way to comfort you. After your move from Carthage, Claude still honored the friendships he had established by using the internet. He always wanted to share his emails, just as he always wanted to share himself with all he met. A helping hand and prayer was within reach of all who knew Claude. Without reservation, he always passed on the credit he would receive to the Higher Source. I like to think that he is still sending a helpful email to each of us as we think of his life in service to God. Condolences from the Penfield Family (Scott, Vivian Reynolds, Jackson and Evan)
