Obituary for Retta Merenda Howard (Gregory)
Retta Merenda Gregory Howard, 63, of Athens, died Monday, April 15, 2019 at UT Medical Center in Knoxville.
She was a lifelong resident of McMinn County and was a daughter of the late George Harry and Delzie Mae Williams Gregory. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Wanda Coffmen.
She was of the Baptist faith and was a longtime member of the Athens Elks Lodge #1927.
She was associated with Mayfields Dairy for many years.
Retta is survived by her husband of 30 years, Larry E. Howard of Athens; a daugher, Mercedith Lewis of Perry, GA; a son, Greg Bartlett of Warner Robbins, GA; a step-daughter, Rene Howard of Knoxville; four sisters, Eddie Jo Howard of Detroit, MI, Gloria Owens of Athens, Nancy Ferrell of Etowah, and Susie Watson of Athens; brothers and sisters-in-law, George and Ruth Gregory, Cary and Shirley Gregory of Athens, Tommy and Gerri Gregory of Lincoln Park, MI, and Richard and Debbie Gregory of Decatur; four grandsons, Brandon Lewis, Christopher Bartlett, Alex Bartlett, and Zachary Bartlett; one great-grandson, Tucker Bartlett; and many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Retta's life will be held at a later date.
